Back to Subjects"Design creates culture. Culture shapes values. Values determine the future."
Robert L. Peters, designer and author.
Welcome to the Technology Faculty area where we are committed to ensuring that all students make good progress through excellent teaching which inspires and engages them to work hard across a wide variety of materials including Food, Engineering, Resistant Materials, Construction, Textiles, CAD/CAM and Graphics.
The Technology curriculum has been designed to harbour students' interests and create high levels of engagement and a love of learning through practical applications. Students are encouraged to use creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants, culture and values, embedding the concept that design is all around us and that design is for all. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, computing and art.
Every student takes part in practical food lessons enabling us to instil a love of cooking in which they learn how to cook, a crucial life skill that enables them to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.
