Dress Code

There is no uniform in Years 12 and 13, however, extreme forms of dress are not permitted.

“Dress”

The term is used here in a broad sense to cover any aspects of the following: clothing, jewellery, piercings, hairstyles, footwear and any slogans or symbols worn in any way.

Clothing that is too revealing, or is likely to cause embarrassment or offence to self or others (including academy staff), must be avoided.  This includes, but not limited to, the following:

  • Inappropriate slogans or messages on clothing.
  • No ripped jeans.
  • No tops which are too low or too short.  Students must have their torso covered at all times.  “Bustier” style tops are not permitted.
  • Tops must have straps which are at least one inch wide.  Strapless tops are not permitted.
  • Underwear should not be on show.
  • Shorts and skirts must not be shorter than mid-thigh.
  • Appropriate footwear needs to be worn.  Flip flops or Croc style footwear are not permitted.
  • Students must wear their red lanyard to the academy every day.

If a student either knowingly or unintentionally, breaches the dress code, the matter will be referred to the Head of Sixth Form.
