Who is a Young Carer?
A Young Carer is someone under 18 who provides emotional or practical support to a family member with an illness, disability, mental health condition, or addiction. These responsibilities can affect their emotional wellbeing, schoolwork, and attendance.

Well-being Support for Young Carers

Regular Well-being Check-ins with Mrs Cooke.

Drop-In Support in the Well-being Hub at lunchtimes.

Calm Club during form time: Students learn yoga and mindfulness strategies to support mental health and resilience.

Homework Club available after school every day.

Young Carers Peer Support Group: Upper and Lower School groups meet weekly at lunchtime. Activities include fundraising, planning school trips, visiting other young carers, learning new skills, and having fun!

Derbyshire Young Carers Service: Support for young carers aged 5–18 to help manage their caring role at home, both practically and emotionally. Referrals can be made by professionals, parents, or students via derbyshirecarers.co.uk or 01773 833833.
