Principal's Welcome
The Pingle Academy is the popular local choice for secondary and post 16 education.
Our academy is caring and inclusive, with a strong team of well qualified and committed staff. We aim to remove barriers to learning and progress for all young people. We are again oversubscribed for 2022-23, indicating community confidence and satisfaction with the quality of education we provide.
We are delighted that in a recent Ofsted inspection - October 2021, The Pingle Academy has been judged “Good” in all areas and for its overall effectiveness.
Students join us at 11 years of age from a range of primary schools and the majority remain with us until they have completed their A Levels.
We have the highest expectations of all students and the culture is one of high aspirations. Outcomes for students in 2019-20 and 2020-21 were determined by Teacher Assessed Grades (TAG’s). 52% of students were awarded a grade 5 or above in both English and Mathematics and 73% were awarded a grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics.
2019 was the last year of published performance tables and The Pingle Academy achieved its best ever examination results. The percentage of students achieving a grade 5 or more in English and Mathematics was 48% (5% above national average) and the percentage of students achieving a grade 4 or more in English and Mathematics was 65% (the same as national average. Over 20% of grades achieved were 9-7.
We aim to provide all students with a broad and balanced curriculum, which provides the knowledge and skills students need for the next stage in their learning and ultimately for adulthood.
The curriculum is delivered through inspiring teaching and learning. Outcomes for students across all 3 Key Stages are positive. Our aim is that no student is left behind and teaching programmes are tailored to meet the needs of all.
Students at Key Stage 3 make good progress and demonstrate that they know more, remember more and can do more than previously.
At Key Stage 4, our positive Progress 8 score indicates that students have progressed well from their starting points and have exceeded expectations.
We have an exceptional Sixth Form and our students aspire to achieve the highest grades at GCSE in order to gain a place. We have had a record number of applications for 2022-23. We accept students from other local schools and academies, who are attracted by our wide range of courses, our caring environment and our students’ track record of success. Students studying A Level courses have achieved well year on year and students make excellent progress from their KS4 starting points, which is consistently above the national average . Our students invariably go on to access the course, university or Higher Level Apprenticeship of their choice and we are very proud of their success.
Students joining us as High Prior Attainers are challenged in their learning to reach the highest academic standards. We also have excellent support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their outcomes are good.
We prepare students well for their future life. We aim to promote a love of learning and encourage students to become independent and lifelong learners. Our aim is to ensure that students have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values for life and a strong work ethic. Our trust values: “Work hard Be kind Choose wisely”, shine through.
We pay careful attention to students’ health and well-being and want them to become well rounded individuals. We want all of our students to be safe and happy. Students have opportunities to get involved in visits and extra-curricular activities. These are very important for character development and also valuable in terms of giving every single student the chance to shine and be the best that they can be.
The Trust vision is “To ensure that all the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background.”
When you visit the academy, you will see our students who are smartly dressed, co-operative and positively engaged in learning and academy life.
Our academy is a happy place and serves the community well. We very much value links with parents, carers and the community; together, we make a difference.
“Leaders are ambitious for all pupils. There is a well-planned curriculum in place in all subjects and for all pupils. Pupils achieve well as a result.”
