Principal's Welcome

The Pingle Academy is the popular local choice for secondary and post 16 education.

Our academy is caring and inclusive, with a strong team of well qualified and committed staff.   We aim to remove barriers to learning and progress for all young people.  We are again oversubscribed for 2025, indicating community confidence and satisfaction with the quality of education we provide.

We are delighted that our last recent Ofsted inspection - October 2021, The Pingle Academy was judged “Good” in all areas and for its overall effectiveness.

Students join us at 11 years of age from a range of primary schools and the majority remain with us until they have completed their A Levels.

We have the highest expectations of all students and the culture is one of high aspirations.  Outcomes for students in a number of key headline figures continues to be in line or above the national average.  In 2022-23, the percentage of students achieving a grade 5+  in both English and Mathematics was 45.8% and in 2023-24 increased to 46.8%.

In Mathematics 53.5% achieved a grade 5 or better in 2022-23 rising to 55.1% in 2023-24.

In English 56.4% achieved a grade 5 or better in 2022-23 rising to 58.1% in 2023-24.

Students achieving a grade 7 or better in Mathematics rose from 22.9% in 2022-23 to 23% in 2023-24 and in English rose from 19.1% in 2022-23 to 20.8% in 2023-24.

We are determined to help students achieve the very best outcomes possible to open up doors to the future.

We aim to provide all students with a broad and balanced curriculum, which provides the knowledge and skills students need for the next stage in their learning and ultimately for adulthood.  The curriculum is delivered through inspiring teaching and learning.  At The Pingle Academy, we understand "curriculum" to be the mechanism by which we provide a comprehensive education for our students based on their need, ability, aptitude and aspiration.  We have a clear progression route in each subject area, through their 3, 5 and 7 year curriculum.  Each lesson will have a purpose, following the "Pingle Principles" and fit into a sequence of lessons over time.

We have an exceptional Sixth Form and our students aspire to achieve the highest grades at GCSE in order to gain a place.  We have had a record number of applications for 2024-25.  We accept students from other local schools and academies, who are attracted by our wide range of courses, our caring environment and our students’ track record of success.  Students studying A Level courses have achieved well year on year and students make excellent progress from their KS4 starting points, which is consistently above the national average .  Our students invariably go on to access the course, university or Higher Level Apprenticeship of their choice and we are very proud of their success.

Students joining us as High Prior Attainers are challenged in their learning to reach the highest academic standards.  We have a high percentage of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who receive excellent support and those outcomes are good.

We prepare students well for their future life.  We aim to promote a love of learning and encourage students to become independent and lifelong learners.  Our aim is to ensure that students have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values for life and a strong work ethic.  Our trust values: “Work hard  Be kind  Choose wisely”, shine through.

We pay careful attention to students’ health and well-being and want them to become well rounded individuals.  We want all of our students to be safe and happy.  Students have opportunities to get involved in MANY visits and extra-curricular activities.  These are very important for character development and also valuable in terms of giving every single student the chance to shine and be the best that they can be.

The Pingle Academy is part of the Multi-Academy Trust, Affinity Learning Partnership, "Where everyone belongs, progresses and thrives".

When you visit the academy, you will see students who are smartly dressed, co-operative and positively engaged in learning and academy life.

Our academy is a happy place and serves the community well.  We very much value links with parents, carers and the community; together, we make a difference.

“Leaders are ambitious for all pupils. There is a well-planned curriculum in place in all subjects and for all pupils.  Pupils achieve well as a result.”

Ofsted, October 2021
