"We must all do theatre, to find out who we are, and to discover who we could become."

Augusto Boal

Welcome to Drama at the Pingle Academy. We pride ourselves on delivering an engaging curriculum which will develop students confidence in performance skills, creating drama and developing successful team working skills.

We explore a range of genres and technical aspects of theatre, including lighting, costume and set design. This will give students a breath of knowledge and understanding of the world of theatre and its opportunities. We aim to inspire students to want to engage with drama in their future through further study, future careers or as a means of enjoyment and escapism.

Through Drama, we feel it is important to use our subject as an opportunity to explore social issues and to enable students to see the world from other points of view. There are opportunities for students to tackle topics such as bullying, relationships, historical events and other situations they wish to explore. This is done in a safe environment where resilience and self exploration are encouraged.

We are a successful subject with a growing number of students opting to study Drama GCSE and A Level. Along with this we have a thriving extra curricular programme with opportunities for all year groups to take part in performances throughout the year, including a whole school production.
