Pupil Premium
Back to Key InformationThe Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and academies and provides additional funding based on the number of students who are known to have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point over the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’). In addition The Pupil Premium also provides funding for looked after children (LAC) and the children of Services personnel. It is designed to help disadvantaged students of all abilities perform better and close the gap between them and their peers.
The DfE has given us the freedom to use the Pupil Premium as we see fit, based upon our knowledge of our students’ needs. ‘It is for schools and academies to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM student, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual students within their responsibility.’
The Pingle Academy is committed to ensuring the Pupil Premium has an impact on closing the attainment gaps which currently exist between our disadvantaged students and their peers.
The targeted and strategic use of Pupil Premium will support the academy in achieving our aim of helping every student achieve their full potential.
The effectiveness of all interventions is regularly monitored by the Interventions Coordinator and impact is reported to the Leadership Team on a termly basis.
