Welcome to the Science faculty. We are a close knit team of teachers who are keen to encourage a love of science in our students. We endeavour to give them a sense of wonder and understanding about how the world and universe works. We want to bring science alive for the students by putting theory into practice with experiments and demonstrations. We desire to give them the knowledge they need to understand scientific developments throughout their lives.
We teach a knowledge rich curriculum through all years, each Key stage providing the foundation of understanding for the next. The overview of topics for KS3/4 is in the curriculum intent document below.
KS4
At the end of year 9 there are have two pathways the students can follow, AQA GCSE combined science and AQA GCSE biology, chemistry and physics. Many students follow the combined science pathway, studying biology, chemistry and physics, which awards two GCSE grades. Other students follow the Triple science pathway, studying a separate GCSE in each of the three sciences.
KS5
At KS5 we have a choice of four different courses: Edexcel A-level Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Applied Science Level 3. More information is included in the files below.
